In 2009 two sets of volleyball parents came together and decided to start a new volleyball club in the Mustang area. The main goal of this club was to provide quality volleyball instruction for great prices in the Southwest metro area of OKC.  Marianne and Jeff McDaniel along with Lynn and Doug Ketch came together to create and fund OK Storm Volleyball.

Marianne McDaniel was a 4 year All State Volleyball Player, ending her senior year of 1984 with a 40-0  record and winning the State Championship. In August of 2019 the Mustang Volleyball Team of 1984 was inducted into the Mustang Hall of fame. She played throughout college at Texas Women's University and finished her time at Oklahoma Baptist University. Marianne's passion was the game of volleyball.

Marianne and Jeff McDaniel had 3 daughters: Holly, Heather and Heidi. Lynn and Doug Ketch had 3 daughters as well: Courtney, Megan and Paige. The investment of time and money that these parents put into volleyball was invaluable, and especially now: unforgettable.

Marianne's passion for the game of volleyball, along with the brains and passion of the Ketch family and support of Jeff, opened the opportunity to start a volleyball club. Mustang Public Schools was the prime location for this volleyball club, and working along side the Mustang School Board and athletics department the practice site for OK Storm was found. Although the names of the schools have changed since 2009, the original practice sites were in use up until 2020.

In November of 2012 Marianne lost a year long battle with cancer. Nevertheless, the Ketch family along with an amazing parent (Lauren Ivy) continued to support and run OK Storm Volleyball Club. Without the Ketch family, and Lauren Ivy this volleyball club would not exist today.

After a lot of work and help from many individuals, the ownership of the club was transferred in 2014. The McDaniel sisters: Holly Ditmore, Heather McDaniel and Heidi McDaniel took ownership of the volleyball club. With invaluable help from Lauren Ivy, many transitions were made over the next few seasons.

In 2016, the McDaniel sisters made a decision to rebrand the club to make it more of their own and created a new logo, implementing a new color scheme. Changing from red, black and white over to turquoise, charcoal and black- they created a new look for OK Storm.

There were big struggles through the transition and each year thereafter: emotional, physical and financial not withstanding. Each season the McDaniel sisters sit down to reflect on the previous year and decide what to do next. Every year there are improvements made and lessons learned.

After 6 years under their direction there have been over 30 teams, more than 100 tournaments attended, and hundreds of girls playing the game of volleyball.

The bottom line for this volleyball club is that we give girls the opportunity to know and love the game of volleyball, just as Marianne would want it. Thankfully, we are able to come back this 2020-2021 season to do just that! We look forward to seeing players out on the courts this season!
