How do tryouts work? When are tryouts?
Tryouts are typically held at the end of September - mid October each year for all of the clubs in the OKC metro area. For a complete list of dates please refer to our tryouts tab (pending approval) and okrva.com for the full list of dates.
The cost for tryouts at OK Storm are $25 per player. Our tryouts are normally 1.5-2 hours. For younger age groups we typically run the tryout very similar to a clinic, going over specific skills and having players demonstrate those skills. The older age groups will demonstrate skills through drills. Our coaching staff evaluates players on skills individually (pass, set, hit, serve), ability to take instruction, determination and team cohesiveness. Each team is formed with players assigned to positions to help that team be as successful as possible.
Following tryouts, a coach/OK Storm representative will reach out to parents/players to offer positions for the season. OK Storm typically holds 10 players per team. If your player did not make a team we will send an email out to you notifying you that the team is full at this time. If a spot opens up on one of our teams, our staff will reach out directly to notify you.
Due to the competitive nature of club volleyball, some players do not make the team. We encourage all players to continue practicing and attending clinics to sharpen their skills.
